Kate Simms, the 17 year-old founder and executive director of Minds Matter, has played sports her entire life. Having experienced her own hardships, Kate has dedicated the remainder of her high school years and beyond to using her experiences to support other athletes.

Kate says, “This is a project I’m very passionate about. Poor coaching experiences and sports related anxiety pulled me away from athletics for over two years, when sports had been the most important thing to me my entire life. I began to hate the thing I loved most because of my mental health. Just recently, healthily and happily, I have started playing sports again - while those are two years I’ll never get back, I hope I can prevent other athletes from having the same experience.”
